Montezuma's Revenge is another one of the Colecovision titles that was first a hit on the personal computer scene, and with up to 100 pyramid rooms to explore per level, it's easy to see why computer fans flocked to this game. Not only is it immense in size, it's also extremely challenging.

In Montezuma's Revenge, you take on the role of the great pyramid explorer Panama Joe.  Your task is to explore the various pyramids and reach the bottom where the treasure room is located. Along the way you'll have to find weapons and different colored keys in order to proceed from room to room. The control in this game seems extremely touchy right at first, but once you begin to get used to it, you'll see that this is actually what makes the game so exciting and challenging to play.

The Colecovision version of Montezuma's Revenge is actually even better than most of the home computer renditions in terms of visuals. The level of detail in the various rooms is sharp, and even the enemies look quite good. The sound effects are pretty standard, but there's not a big need for a lot of fancy bells & whistles with a game like this anyway.

If you like a game that's absolutely huge in scope and fairly high on the difficulty scale, you might want to give this great computer classic a try. Parker Bros. really did an outstanding job with the Colecovision version of the game. It's not going to appeal to everyone, but if you're one of those who are willing to give it a decent chance, it might just surprise you.
