Mr. Do is one of those classic arcade titles that never really got the attention it deserved. Many dismissed it as nothing more than a simple Dig Dug clone, when in actuality it's a completely different and much more playable game. Thankfully, Colecovision owners can enjoy a near arcade-quality home version of the game anytime they feel like it. In this game you take on the role of Mr. Do the clown. Your job is to harvest the cherries from each orchard while avoiding the Bad Guys and the evil Blue Chomper. You can fire off your Power Ball to take out the enemies, but you'll have to wait until it recharges before you can fire it off again. You can also push Apples onto the enemies to squash them in their tracks. The same smooth play control found in the arcade game is still present and accounted for in this Colecovision version as well. The Colecovision version of Mr. Do looks and sounds almost exactly like the arcade version. The one main difference is that for some reason the developers bleached out Mr. Do. Now instead of wearing his classic red and white clown suit, he's completely white from head to toe. Other than this slight drawback, it's a beautiful and very accurate arcade port. Mr. Do's Castle might be considered a better game, but there's still something great about the original Mr. Do. It's simple, yet addictive game play have made it a beloved classic among Colecovision gamers. If you own a Colecovision, this game should definitely be in your game library. -
