ACTION CONTROLLERS
Coleco released the Super Action Controllers in 1983 for $54.95. Included in the package were two Super Action Controllers, two extra grips, the Super Action Baseball game cartridge, and two controller overlays. The Super Action Controllers are actually pretty solid controllers that offer a huge amount of game play variety given the design and layout of the stick and buttons. Of course this also lends itself to the games using overly complicated control schemes, which most of the games designed specifically for them did. The controllers even featured a grip cover that kept the other player from seeing your button choices. The games designed for these controllers range from good to terrible. The Super Action sports titles are fun enough, but most are quite complicated and take a degree from MIT to play. Front Line is easily the best game as it makes perfect use of these controllers. On a side note, you can also use the Super Action Controllers with all Colecovision games that require the regular controllers. These sticks are a bit bulky, but do offer a nice alternative to the standard controllers. |
